THE ACTION All of the city cycling was shot in the streets of New York using four different techniques. The camera is always moving. Scenes in Iowa allowed for the camera to be on a tripod. SYNOPSIS Kaya is a senior in high school in a quiet Iowa town. Her passion is cycling but her best friend and her mother do not take her seriously. To prove herself she forsakes home and comes to the city to become a bike messenger. THE TWIST The end of the film and the beginning of the film are the same moment in time. ABOUT THE INSPIRATION Cycling home to Brooklyn drunk and harboring a head cold on a rainy night the thought hit me that I could die at any moment. My GF at the time had just headed off to China for six months and I was alone in a windowless room in a small apartment on 63rd street. I caught a fever dream and had a vision of a bike messenger delivering a package to an art gallery and staying to look at the art. The messenger stared at a photograph of a city street and a car/bike accident with the bike hanging grotesquely from a tree. She looked closer and recognized the victim on the ground: It was her. Three years and several incarnations later you have this film. • • • For a DVD copy please email. |
